The special feature of this art education approach consists of the idea of fight and interaction of the realistic and decorative art, to which in cultural anthropology correspond the concepts of the "sensitive" and "ideational" types of cultures according to P. Sorokin's classification. From this point of view, the art is examined in the historic-social aspect.
The concepts of realistic art abstract art and decorative art are basis of this education course, making it possible to form integral worldview. The purpose of course is instruction in the drawing of adult and children, their system theoretical and practical preparation in the region of fine art. Furthermore, program allows the tool of the analysis of the works of art, capability for creative self-development.
Important is the attempt to create the sequential system of instruction in basic principles of composition art. The knowledge of these principles makes it possible more freely and creatively to approach the image of objects and phenomena of the contemporary world, it contributes to intellectual development.
In this case both the personal experience of the author of program and the experience of other artists of Saint Petersburg, (especially by Y. Shevchik) are used. As for chromatics the explosives by Kandinsky and N. Serov are impotent.
Composition is presented not as instruction in some only abstracted rules must help to reflect in the sheet paper world and express their relation to it.
Decorative approach (planar image) sharply predominates in the initial stage of instruction in drawing in the program, which is connected with the large complexity of the transfer of space and volume (those more with the drawing according to the idea). Here are represented the principles of decorative drawing, concept of symmetry/asymmetry, stylization. Attention is paid to the composition organization of picture (selection of size, its uniform filling, distinguishing of center by means of different forms of contrast).
So that it would be possible to express its relation to the depicted objects, we do introduce the concept of nature rigid and soft.
The part of the pictures is made by watercolor, part by the India ink (here they are given the simplest graphic habits).
Already during the first studies, trained must gradually, will be able prior to the beginning of work on the basic size execute small sketches.
Both further developments of habits and skills already mastered by trainees, and acquisition by them of new knowledge, occurs upon transfer to the subject drawing. Large requirements appear for the drawing of human figure. In a number of exercises the problem of the image of the open and closed space, the transfer of volume are posed.
In contrast to the first lessons, where the compositions dedicated to static nature, we now do introduce the concept of dynamics motion; we speak about the use of different colors with the expression of one emotional state or another.
In the process of fulfilling the exercises with the formal geometric elements the possibility of the analysis of the works of fine art shows.
Toward the end of the course the trainees must know how to independently find subject and to select depictive means for its expression. Here basic accent is done for compiling of thematic picture, which traditionally is considered as the corona of fine art. The mythologies of different peoples of world are assumed as the plot material.
In the completion the lectures, dedicated to contemporary technologies in the art, which foresee independent work with some computer programs, are conducted. The statement of the author of this course is such: computer technologies this is only form ('hard') of the art, which content (spirit) is determined by the humanistic heritage of the centuries-old history of human culture.
Training program is combination in the course of lecture cycle (18 hours) and laboratory studies (32 hours). In view of a certain limitation of time and high labor expense in the mastery of practical fine arts and of habits significant role plays the independent work of students. Program provided also the visits of artistic museums.
Course is connected with other training disciplines: by "world artistic culture", by music, the "bases of esthetical education".
